Trade Approved Balance Verification

When a balance receives NMI/NSC certificate of approval, it is certified under a specific accuracy class that defines the performance parameters required for legal-for-trade applications. A critical parameter is the verification interval—the minimum certified increment for trade use. Due to the high number of internal divisions in modern balances, the verification interval for trade approval typically differs from the balance's display resolution. For example, the GX-4002A displays weights to 0.01g, but its trade-approved verification interval is 0.1g.

Most trade-approved balances continue to display finer increments (often indicated by brackets or similar notation), though some models like the Class III EK-i completely suppress the last digit, while the EW-150i eliminates an entire weighing range. The verification interval represents the certified accuracy for legal-for-trade purposes and is the official measurement increment recognized for commercial transactions.
